![]() If you have a Compile format in your library of formats that has ePub 2 as one of its supported file type, ePub 2 will appear as an option in Compile. Thus, we have not removed legacy ebook support entirely - we've just hidden it. ![]() While most ebook platforms should now support ePub 3, you may have your reasons for wanting to create ebooks in ePub 2, such as having a discontinued e-reader device that doesn't support the newer format. This was done in part to avoid confusion between different versions of the same formats, in part because most e-readers should now be using the newer formats (which have been around for nearly five years at the time of writing), and also because Scrivener 3.1 introduced improvements to the Compile options for ePub 3 and KF8 that should now make them as easy to use as the older formats. ![]() By default, Scrivener's Compile panel now only allows users to choose between "ePub Ebook" and "Kindle Ebook", which creates books using the newer ePub 3 and KF8/Mobi standards. As of Scrivener 3.1, support for ePub 2 and the legacy Kindle (Mobi only) formats has been discontinued.
